So you just launched a product on Product Hunt. Good for you! But did you get featured in the Top 3 or at least in the Top 10 or did you even get the expected amount of upvotes? Well, seeing how you’ve landed here, I don’t think so! If I put it simply, the launch was a flop. Let me help you out. I’m going to tell you a mind-blowing hack on how to get upvotes on Product Hunt at the time of launch and land yourself in the Top 10, or better, Top 3 products.
So our first goal is to land in the Top 10. Once that’s done, we’ll already start getting organic traffic from Product Hunt itself. But we need to get to that point first.
I’m going to take you step-by-step on this, so bear with me.
Let’s start:
Invading the Platforms
Let’s kick start with the obvious. It’s time to find those upvoters. But before we move forward, you need to know who are your competitors. Why? Because we are going to use their audience as well to get upvotes. With that clear, let’s move forward.
To put it out, there are so many channels to get those upvotes & no it’s not about just posting there. We’ll get to that later. I’m going to tell you something much more awesome so you have no choice but to put up with me as I discuss all the channels to get those upvoters. Let’s find all those upvoters now.
Getting Upvoters from Product Hunt
Let’s not forget the platform itself. Start by going on all your competitor’s launches and scrape the data of the followers and the commented users. You can use the Product Hunt Follower Scraper and Product Hunt Comment Profile Scraper tools to do so. While you are at it, also scrape Ryan Hoover’s profile. (For those who don’t know, he’s the Founder of Product Hunt). Compile all of this data and keep it aside. I’ll tell you what to do with it in a while after we’ve discussed other channels as well.
Getting Upvoters from Slack
Slack will be a major help to find these upvoters. Join the Slack groups not only in your niche but also in the groups that might have your target audience. Go on to all these slack channels and use this Slack Member Email Extractor and scrape all those channels. Compile the data you get and keep it aside as before.
Getting Upvoters from Facebook
Go on the Facebook groups in your niche or better on your competitor’s groups and scrape the data of all the members using this Facebook Group Scraper. Compile it and set it aside.
Getting Upvoters from LinkedIn
Let’s do the same with LinkedIn. Use this LinkedIn Group Scraper and extract the data of all the group members from all the groups you are a part of. You can also find emails of the specific profiles on LinkedIn using this Tool. Again compile this data and keep it aside.
Bonus Channel: You can also make use of Instagram to find those upvoters. Go on and use this Profile Scraper, Follower Scraper & Hashtag Scraper on the relevant profiles and get that data as well.
Prepping for the Launch
Now that you have got all the data, I’ll tell you what to do with it in a while.
Let’s first prep everything. Before prepping for the Product Hunt launch. Get your Emails and stuff ready telling people about your product, its launch & upvoting it. Get all the content required for outreach ready and in hand. Once you are done with that, prepare for your Product Hunt launch.
Quick Tip: Don’t just go on randomly launching your product at any given time. You’ve to make sure to get the most traffic. So the ideal time to get that is between 7:00 AM-7:30 AM UTC on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. This makes sure you get the traffic of both the previous as well as the same day.
Now, Go, go! Get your firing table ready and launch your Product on Product Hunt. (You’ll get an URL of the launch. Copy that.)
Blasting Off the Product
Now, you’ve got a window of 2-3 hours after the launch to get the most upvotes. Get the data you had compiled before from all the channels & fire up emails and messages to all of those. Do not forget to paste the URL of the launch into all those emails and messages.
Now is the right time to post about the launch on all your social media platforms as well.
Slack
Go to all the groups you are a part of & talk about your launch. Tell about your product & ask for upvotes. Don’t spam those groups with messages rather engage with the member & discuss your product, its usage, & much more. Plugin your product & also paste the URL of the launch there.
Facebook can be very effective for such launches. Post about your launch on your Facebook. Promote it in all the groups you are part of. Again, do not spam. Find the groups related to Product Hunt & spread the word. Post about it on your Facebook page & much more. Plugin the launch URL everywhere.
Just as you did for Facebook, use LinkedIn to promote your launch. Post about it on your LinkedIn ID and all the groups you are a part of. Also, promote it on all your LinkedIn pages.
Instagram is the most used social media platform, so make the most use of it. Post about it, use relevant hashtags & reach out to other Product Hunt users. Tell them about your product & ask for upvotes.
Try and get as many upvotes as you can in the first 2-3 hours of the launch.
What more?
This mass outreach is a tried and tested method on how to get upvotes on Product Hunt that will definitely land you in at least the Top 10. From here, as I said before, You’ll start getting organic traffic from Product Hunt itself. You might also end up in the Top 3 & if you’re lucky enough you might also end up being the Top 1 product.
Now, that’s how you get featured on Product Hunt!
So for your next launch on Product Hunt, use this hack & reach the Top products list!
