  2. Choosing the right Social Media platforms
  3. Purposeful Content
  4. Branding
  5. Storytelling
  6. Nurturing your Audience
  7. BONUS Tools

1. Set Goals & Objectives

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaThe first step for successfully marketing your business on social media is to have a goal. Without a set target, it’s almost impossible to have a solid marketing strategy. I’d suggest you have at least 2 types of goals-longterm & shortterm.

A few examples of short-term goals are direct sales or lead generation. They yield results instantly. So, if you want to generate revenue right now, then going for short-term goals can be super effective. But there’s a limit to how many sales you can achieve if you have a small audience.

That’s why I’d suggest you plan your marketing strategy mainly for long-term results. Brand building is a great way to create brand awareness & increase engagement with your audience. Basically, what people perceive your brand as. Will discuss that further in the article.

One thing to keep in mind when settings goals is that you need to be realistic. Don’t shoot for the stars if you are just starting a social media marketing campaign. It’s okay to have one or two goals in the beginning & then gradually aim higher. After all, you don’t have unlimited resources, do you?

2. Choose the Right Social Media Platforms

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaMarketing your business from multiple social media platforms can be quite a pesky task. If you’ve just started using social media for your business, I’d suggest you pick a maximum of 2-3 platforms.

Choosing the right social media platform depends on your business type, industry, audience, etc. Think of it this way-If 70-80% of your target audience is on Facebook & Twitter, then marketing your business on Instagram will yield fewer results.

I’m not saying you should not target all possible social media platforms. But, if you are just starting out, focus all your efforts on 2-3 platforms & get business from those platforms. Of course, you should eventually use all possible social media platforms to promote your business.

3. Create Content with a Purpose

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaGone are those days when you could create content just for the sake of it. Now, the audience needs something more-something that’ll add value to their lives. And if you give them that, you’ll get the most ROI. So, how will you do that? Well, by having the right content strategy. Let me explain.

Your content is probably the first piece of information that your potential leads will see. That’s how you will generate attention, by putting your business out there. Then, by making quality content, you will nurture them. So, curate your content so that your audience gets a clear idea of what your business is about & what they will get. And by having a strong CTA, you will convert your leads into customers. CTAs can include lead generation, getting more website traffic, signing up for your service, etc.

First, provide your audience with the proper guidance to buy your product/service, which they will benefit from. And you will profit by getting business.

Of course, it’s not that simple & you have to put a lot of effort into making high-quality content that your audience likes. That’s how you bag customers. Don’t just spray & pray. Instead, have a planned strategy & provide value

4. Don’t Forget that Branding Matters!

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaAs discussed previously in the article, branding is about creating awareness about your brand & how people perceive it. Think of creating something memorable for your brand that people can easily recognize. Logos & taglines are the most common ways businesses create a unique identity & perception in users’ minds.

Let’s take Coca-Cola as an example. What they manufacture is a soft drink. But what they sell is happiness, or at least people perceive that. They’ve constantly changed their taglines & marketing campaigns to keep up with the changing market, which is something to consider. Don’t hesitate to change or modify your logo & taglines if it suits your business at that particular time.

Make sure everything you put on social media align with your brand. Don’t post sophisticated content if you want to create a young & dynamic look for your brand. Many brands make the mistake of not matching their content with their branding idea. Your content sets your brand tone too.

In the next step, I’ll discuss how you can market your business on social media as an entrepreneur.

5. Tell Captivating Stories

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaSocial media is not limited to talking about your business but also about letting people know who is behind that business. I’ve noticed that people are more likely to trust a business if they see a person behind it. Basically, it makes your business look more human.

You can tell stories about your product/service, business, or any projects you like. You can also talk about what encouraged you to start your business. What lessons did you learn along your journey that shaped you as a person & also how it impacted your business? There can be endless stories to tell your leads.

I’d recommend you write down everything you want to tell your audience in a Google Doc or a notebook. It may be your experiences with people, your discovering your expertise or skills, etc. Create a nice piece of story content & post it on social media platforms.

Stories have always been a way to connect with people & I think you should definitely think about this.

6. Nurture your Audience

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaNurturing your relationship with your audience is extremely important to get longterm customers who are loyal to your business. There are many ways to do that, which I’ll cover briefly.

You can use the 80/20 rule to gain trust. The rule states that out of the total 100% of the content you post, include 80% of yours & cite 20% of other people’s content. This makes you look like you are providing value(you literally are) & not just wanting to get more sales. And you don’t have to limit yourself to needing to cite other people’s content. You could even create content that talks about your business/service for 80% & the remaining 20% is the CTA. I’ve seen it work & you will see it too.

Another way to nurture your relationship with the audience is by hosting contests & giveaways. A giveaway is a great way to know who is interested in your product/service & who is not. Typically when people apply for giveaways, it is with their names & emails or by sharing your content/post on their profiles. This gets you tons of new eyes on your website, social media & most importantly, you have emails for outreach. Not only that, but it also increases user engagement. Contests are fun, they are engaging & people like that.

So, build your relationships & nurture it!

7. BONUS Tools🥳

7 Effective Ways to Marketing Your Business on Social MediaWhat if I tell you that you can generate tons of quality laser-targeted leads & means to outreach to almost all of them? Yes, it is possible & you don’t even have to spend too much on it.😉 I’ve listed a few Growth Marketing tools you definitely should check out for growing your business.

Tools for Data Scraping

You can use Facebook Group Member Extractor, LinkedIn Group Member Extractor, LinkedIn Email Finder, Instagram Profile Scraper, Instagram Follower Scraper, Instagram Post Scraper, Instagram Hashtag Scraper, Twitter Follower Email Finder & TikTok Follower Scraper for scraping key information of your leads.

The data includes your leads’ names, emails, job designations, follower counts, company names, etc. Sometimes you even get their phone numbers. Use these data points to curate your leads list. Then you can craft a nice pitch & outreach to your desired prospects.

I also suggest you not opt for a hardcore sales pitch but give your leads some sort of value for connecting with you. A free e-book, free demo, or a 30-day free trial of your service are good options to keep in mind.

Note: Not all mentioned data points are provided with every mentioned tool.

Tools for Outreaching

You can send direct messages or connect with your leads on various social media platforms for outreach. The tools for that are as follows: Facebook Auto Message Sender, Facebook Auto Friend Request Sender, Instagram Auto Follow/Unfollow & Instagram Auto Message Sender

Also, you can use the emails you get from these data scraping tools to craft a nice personalized emailer to bag those clients!
